In this study, four types of castables as calcium-aluminate cement (CAC)-bonded and nano-silica (NS)-bonded castables based on tabular-alumina and bauxite aggregates were prepared to investigate the replacement of the calcium-aluminate cement by NS. All samples were allowed to dry at 110 °C then fired at 800 and 1200 °C. Bulk density and apparent porosity of samples were measured. The molten aluminum static corrosion test (cup test) results showed that NS-bonded specimens had higher resistance to corrosion compared to CAC-bonded samples (based on the measured average aluminum penetration depth into the refractory texture). However no penetration was observed in bauxite NS-bonded samples. The results were consistent with dynamic corrosion test in aluminum melt carried out at 800 °C for 100 h. The small pore size in NS-bonded castables was found to be the main cause for high corrosion resistance as micro-pores prevented the melt to penetrate into the refractory.  相似文献

High-penetration renewable energy-based generators (REGs) in distribution systems have increased the importance of impact assessment involving these systems. This assessment focuses on power quality (PQ) and compatibility between REGs and existing system components. Electric vehicle (EV) technology has also recently achieved a substantial market share. This technology requires the development of charging stations similar to current petroleum fuelling stations in the near future. Thus, the effect of EV stations (EVSs) on PQ must also be considered. This study presents a PQ analysis on the effects of high-penetration EVS and REG systems, including wind turbines, grid-connected photovoltaics (PVs), and fuel cell (FC) power generation units on a modified 16-bus distribution system under different loading and weather conditions. All data on EVS, wind farm, PV, and FC units as well as weather conditions presented in this paper were collected from different power companies and the Malaysian Meteorological Department. The system is modelled and simulated using the MATLAB/Simulink software to study the effects of these technologies on system performances at various penetration levels. Simulation results indicated that the presence of high-penetration EVSs and REGs can cause severe PQ problems such as frequency and voltage fluctuations, voltage drop, harmonic distortion and power factor reduction.  相似文献

Aeolian vibration in bare and iced cable was simulated using the theory of cable vibration. High frequency vibration creates stresses in the cable and consequently in the ice covering that cable, which may result in ice failure and eventually ice shedding. These stresses were estimated in this study. Displacement of the cable during vibration was determined; furthermore, instantaneous wind loads in vertical and transverse directions, additional stresses induced by the motion in the cable and in the atmospheric ice, as well as torque due to cable springback were calculated. In order to simulate the loading conditions of a chunk of atmospheric ice in the middle of a span, a new model was developed using ABAQUS. Results from this model show in spite of high frequency vibration, the resulting level of stress in atmospheric ice is far less than its failure limit. In other words, the atmospheric ice under the condition assumed in this investigation does not shed due to aeolian vibration.  相似文献

The performance of drag reducing polymers in turbulent flow is restricted by their mechanical degradation. This study examines how the working fluid can affect the degradation behavior of diluted drag reducing polymeric solutions. Solutions having different proportions of tap water and de-ionized water served as the working fluids. Three commercially available water soluble polymeric agents, namely, an anionic copolymer of polyacrylamide, xanthan gum, and polyethylene oxide, were then added to these solutions. All experiments had identical flow rates corresponding to turbulent conditions in a laboratory scale pipe line. Variation of pressure drop in the pipe line was then measured for 2 hours. It was found that polymer degradation is accelerated in tap water solutions compared to that in de-ionized water solutions. However, this is dependent on the specification of the polymer used, namely, the molecular weight of the polymer and the rigidity of its molecular backbone. Furthermore, a new mathematical relation has been developed to investigate degradation of the polymers over time.  相似文献

Lately software based virtual mobile voice over Internet Protocol (VMVoIP) services have become available to end-users which may endanger profit of regular telephone operators from phone calls. In this situation, telephone operators should decide on a proper mechanism for interconnection with such VMVoIP operators which secures mutual benefit of both operators. In this paper, we study both monopolistic and oligopolistic markets of VMVoIP in which a single VMVoIP and several VMVoIP operators available in the market respectively. We model the interaction among a phone operator, VMVoIP operators and end-users as a leader-follower dynamic game and find a sub-game perfect Nash equilibrium (SPNE) for the game. The SPNE shows the phone operator’s best pricing strategy (i.e., wholesale price for VMVoIP operators and retail price for end-users) and its best decision on the interconnection with VMVoIP operators. We further study economic interpretation of the SPNE. We show that in specific end-users’ demands, the phone operator may increase its total profit by allowing the interconnection and taking right price discrimination strategy.  相似文献

In the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) mode of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard, implementation of the turbo decoder, especially for the mobile equipments, faces design decisions related to computational complexity, power efficiency, and memory requirements. In this paper we compare different approaches of low complexity implementation of the turbo decoder, with emphasis on the issues of signal scaling and quantization, the sliding window operation for memory size reduction and the iteration stopping algorithms. The demodulated signal at the output of the RAKE receiver may have a wide dynamic range and it may require many bits of precision. In order to overcome the numerical precision problem and to prevent Log Likelihood ratio (LLR) metric overflow, a scaling algorithm must be used. Our simulation results indicate that the Average Absolute (AA) algorithm using dynamic scaling outperforms other scaling schemes and it is less sensitive to the channel conditions. One of the major challenges in the implementation of a practical turbo decoder is optimization of memory requirements. In this paper we evaluate the performance of the sliding window algorithm using different main and guard window sizes. We show that the bit and block error rate performance of the sliding window scheme mainly depend on the guard window size rather than the main window size. The simulation results indicate that small guard window sizes can significantly decrease the iteration gain for large frames in fast fading channels. Iteration stopping algorithms reduce the power consumption and the latency of the decoder and help to dedicate more resources to other functions of the receiver. The block error distribution in the fading channels makes it even more essential to use an iteration stopping rule. Our simulations conclude that a rule called the minimum absolute value appears to be a very effective, low complexity and robust algorithm. A study was carried out to determine the fat and cholesterol contents of several commercial pork cuts as function of sex. Fat and cholesterol content ranged from 2.7% and 57 mg/100 g in loin to 30.3% and 116 mg/100 g in dewlap. The higher the fat content the higher was the cholesterol content. Sex did not influence fat content and the fat/cholesterol ratio, but cholesterol content was higher in females than in males.  相似文献

Providing an efficient resource allocation mechanism is a challenge to computational grid due to large-scale resource sharing and the fact that Grid Resource Owners (GROs) and Grid Resource Consumers (GRCs) may have different goals, policies, and preferences. In a real world market, various economic models exist for setting the price of grid resources, based on supply-and-demand and their value to the consumers. In this paper, we discuss the use of multiagent-based negotiation model for interaction between GROs and GRCs. For realizing this approach, we designed the Market- and Behavior-driven Negotiation Agents (MBDNAs). Negotiation strategies that adopt MBDNAs take into account the following factors: Competition, Opportunity, Deadline and Negotiator’s Trading Partner’s Previous Concession Behavior. In our experiments, we compare MBDNAs with MDAs (Market-Driven Agent), NDF (Negotiation Decision Function) and Kasbah in terms of the following metrics: total tasks complementation and budget spent. The results show that by taking the proposed negotiation model into account, MBDNAs outperform MDAs, NDF and Kasbah.  相似文献
